“Turn to Sand” by Musique Le Pop

Norwegian electropop newcomers Musique Le Pop combine soft Say Lou Lou style vocals with Charlie XCX style newtro beats to get their feet in the door of Scandinavian electro.

With only 247 Facebook fans but a haunting electro sound reminiscent of this music era’s other Scandinavian musicians such as Mr. Little Jeans of Norway, The Knife of Sweden,  of Denmark, Musique Le Pop is sure to start getting more indie famous.

DOLLS: The New Kylie Minogue

The UK has recently launched its response to Australia’s Kylie Minogue – DOLLS.

DOLLS is the electropo project of aptly (stage)named Nikki Awesome. Her voice sounds almost exactly like Kylie Minogue. In fact, “Now Now” sounds like a sped up version of “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” mixed with a dark wave bass beat in the background.

She even channels a little bit of Madonna in her outrageous outfits and makeup.

[SF:] Breakdown Valentine

If CHVRCHES, Blondie, and The Sounds had a threesome band baby, it would be San Francisco’s Breakdown Valentine.

This electropop / electro rock duo brings dark wave influences to dream pop and adds in sultry vocals.

“Lullaby” has more of a Blondie and The Sounds 80s feel while “There Will Be Blood” sounds like a slowed down CHVRCHES track with an American accent.

If you’re in San Francisco, check them out tonight at PopScene at the Rickshaw Stop!

“Lullaby”

“There Will Be Blood”

Not gonna lie – I love this track because of its CHVRCHES synths and because There Will Be Blood is one of my favorite movies.

The Hood Internet Remixes “The Hunter” by ON AN ON

The always amazing Hood Internet remixed “The Hunter” by ON AN ON (a current BoxSpeaker favorite).

In usual Hood Internet fashion, they used the “The Hunter,” an indie track, as the base while overlaying it with ProbCause and Mig Mora‘s raps.

If you’re in San Francisco, catch ON AN ON opening for Geographer at the Fillmore on January 31. LA fans can catch them at the Echo on February 1.

Chromatics Cover Joy Division / New Order’s “Ceremony”

Chromatics are probably best known for their sultry electropop cover of Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill.”

Now they’ve taken their electro-sensuality to remake Joy Division‘s last / New Order‘s first single “Ceremony.”

P.S. Both Chromatics tracks are definitely songs to bone to.
